Prince William and Kate Middleton have split. A friend of the couple said that the breakup was “amicable”. They had been dating for almost five years. It comes as a surprise, since there was much speculation that the two were thought to be announcing their engagement soon.

It doesn’t help matters that William is in Dorset, taking an armed corps commander course, and Kate is in London, where she is an accessories buyer for Jigsaw.

One thing for sure - with Kate out of the picture and William now the most eligible bachelor in the world, all eyes will be on whomever the next Princess will be.
