Martina McBride lent a hand to the contestants tonight - giving them her “country” advice.

Here’s a recap of tonight:

Phil - “Where the Blacktop Ends” - I thought he was actually pretty good tonight, I liked the way he sounded doin’ a country song! Randy said that he has a career in country music, Paula said that this was the genre that he was supposed to sing, and Simon said that he chose a good song and it was the first time he saw his personality.

Jordin - “A Broken Wing” - Our Arizona hometown girl is doing us proud yet again! She was very controlled up there and was awesome. Randy said that she just blows him away every week, it was da bomb, another great performance, Paula said that she did a fantastic job, and Simon said that with that performance she can WIN American Idol.

Sanjaya - “Let’s Give Them Something To Talk About”. How fitting that he sang this song, eh? Boring this week. He did much better last week. I’m sure we’ll still be stuck with him another week. Randy said that it was very bland and boring, Paula said that Sanjaya is someone who loves adversity but he’s a lovable guy, Simon said “that was utterly horrendous, as bad as anything that we see at the beginning of American Idol”. Well, I wouldn’t compare him to that but that’s Simon’s opinion.

Lakisha - “Jesus Take The Wheel”. I don’t think that country is her thing but I thought she was awesome. Too bad the judges didn’t think so. Randy said that it wasn’t his favorite vocal of hers, Paula said that she sounded like she was shouting but she’s still brilliant, Simon said that he doesn’t think that song went well with her at all.

Chris - “Mayberry”. Eh, just okay for me. Randy said that he didn’t feel any sense of emotion, felt lost during the song, Paula said that the joy and love didn’t come through when he was performing tonight (most likely because he is from Virginia and he had said at the end of his performance that his heart goes out to all at Virginia Tech - poor guy), and Simon said that it was a very non-descript, nasally vocal, no impact on him at al, thought it was completely and utterly insignificant. Sheesh Simon and I saw your little eye rolling while Chris talked about Virginia Tech. Whatever.

Melinda - “Trouble Is a Woman” Never heard this song before but of course Mindy Doo rocked it tonight. Also, love her hair tonight. She looks good without the bangs. Randy said another solid performance, Paula said that she knows how to pick the right song, Simon said that it was fantastic, great choice.

Blake - “When the Stars Go Blue”. I love my Blake and thought he did very well tonight again. Randy said that he picked the right song, “dude that was nice”, Paula said that he has the whole package, picked the right song, has own isms, Simon said that it wasn’t a “jumping out of my chair performance” (um, Simon, what exactly is?) but he did well.

That was it folks…sorry for the delay in getting this on here. Gah, my daughter voted for Sanjaya 10 times tonight. Oh brother.

My prediction: I think that Phil Stacey will be leaving us tomorrow night even thought he gave a solid performance. We all know that Sanjaya will stay.
