Regis Philbin called into his show today and told co-host Kelly Ripa that he’ll be back on April 26. He had triple heart bypass surgery only six weeks ago! He has been walking and lifting light weights during his recovery - I just can’t picture Regis sitting around doing nothing. He jokingly told Kelly that he won’t be the “fun loving Reege” that he was before because his entire personality had changed.



It certainly puts everything into perspective, doesn’t it? Glad to see that you’re on the road to recovery, Reege. I’ve missed your banter with Kelly and can’t wait for you to get back!

Regis announced this morning on his show that he will be undergoing triple heart bypass surgery later this week, thus he will be out of hosting duties for an unknown amount of time.

“Well, listen, I gotta tell you something…I had been feeling chest pains, you know, and, uh, shortness of breath and all those little symptoms that you hear about. There’s some plaque in some arteries and I’ve got to get it cleaned out. Darn it, I don’t want to do it. Nobody wants to do it, I guess. And I had a second opinion, I did all those things, and so they’re all in agreement that it should be the bypass. And so that’s what I’m gonna do.”

I hope they enlist Kelly’s husband Mark to help out with co-hosting duties. He is hot hot hot!!!
