That crazy Paula Abdul…Over the weekend Paula tripped over her chihuahua, Tulip, and broke her nose! I can’t wait to see her tomorrow night on finale of American Idol a la Marcia Brady style. LOL!!

What a shocker! Melinda Doolittle was sent home tonight. I certainly thought that the finale was going to be between Jordin and Melinda, a battle of the Divas, but it’s now between Jordin and Blake. I love both of them, but my pick is with our hometown girl, Jordin. Melinda has nothing to worry about though - the girl will be snatched up real quick with a recording contract and will no longer have to be that backup singer. We’ll miss you Melinda! All the best to you

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo escorted his lady love, Carrie Underwood, to the Academy of Country Music Awards this evening in Las Vegas. Congratulations to Carrie, as she picked up Album of the Year for her debut CD, Some Hearts (which is one my favorite CD’s!). Being an American Idol sure has paid off for her! Well, they didn’t show that much footage of Jordin here in Arizona - so much for the American Idol crew following Jordin around seriously all day long Friday and for most of it to end up on the cutting room floor…Whew, one hour, three contestants, three songs each…Here we go:



Jordin Sparks: Simon’s pick for Jordin was “Wishin on a Star.” I really love her voice and of course, did a wonderful job!! Randy said that it was a very good vocal, “that was hot!”, Paula said that she did a beautiful job, and Simon said that she sang it brilliantly but he didn’t like the arrangement.



Blake Lewis: Paula picked “Roxanne.” Another great performance for my Blake. Randy said that it was a great, great performance, Paula said that it was fantastic and fresh, Simon said that it was good, it wasn’t great.



Melinda Doolittle: Randy chose “I Believe in You and Me”. Wow, I must say that she really dug deep for this one, it gave me chills while she was singing it. Awesome! Randy said that it was hot, blew it out of the box, Paula said that it was fantastic (this is Paula’s favorite word of the night), and Simon said that it was the best performance in the last four weeks and Round 1 goes to Melinda.

This last Friday, the crew from American Idol followed our own Arizona girl, Jordin Sparks, while she made some stops here in Phoenix. It was quite a spectacle in Glendale, where Jordin resides. She should know by now that this whole state is rooting for her to become the next American Idol. I’m anxious to see the footage that they shot - it will be shown on Tuesday. She made her rounds Friday morning and did some radio promos, she said that Tuesday’s show she will be singing 3 songs!

I knew it was either going to be Blake or Lakisha that was going home last night and unfortunately it was Kiki. I’ll miss her! The remaining three Idols go visit their hometowns, and I just read that Jordin will be visiting Phoenix tomorrow. We are so proud of our Arizona girl!

I wasn’t really surprised that Phil and Chris were booted off tonight and it’s gonna be a tough road ahead for the remaining four - Blake, Jordin, Melinda, and Lakisha. I would really love to see Blake and Jordin in the final, but am thinking that it will be Blake and Melinda who will duke it out. We shall see…

Jon Bon Jovi was the mentor to all the Idols tonight and he seemed a little skeptical about a few of them…



Phil: “Blaze of Glory” Ya know, he did pretty well tonight…I thought that country was probably his thang but he pulled this one off. Randy said that it was his best performance, Paula said that it was the best opening we’ve had, Simon said that it was okay, like a bad actor playing a role, he doesn’t think he’s done enough to last another week.

Jordin: “Livin’ On A Prayer” Eh, totally different genre for Jordin. I’m a little worried for her. Randy wasn’t too impressed, Paula gave her kudos for going for it even though it was tough, Simon said that her singing was out of control, on the verge of shrieking, “it was terrible”. Oy, get your fingers a dialin’ for my girl Jordin tonight - everyone is allowed a “bad week”.

Lakisha: “This Ain’t A Love Song” Kiki is back!! The girl was awesome, and she soooo needed it this week. Randy said that she blew it out of the water, Paula said that she gave it somethin’ somethin’, great job, Simon said, “I could kiss you” and Kiki marched down those steps and planted one full on Simon’s lips…soo cute! He was very happy that she rose to the challenge - nailed it.

I am looking forward to tonight’s show. It should be interesting…especially the bottom two will be booted off tomorrow. Oh, the pressure!! Kiki, ya gotta bring it tonight, girl! I fear for you the most, but maybe there’s a rocker chick inside of you just waiting to bust out… I’m not really sure how Melinda will do with the rocker theme, but she hasn’t disappointed me yet.
